Enamel is the fusion of powdered glass and metal with the blessings of fire. The metal can be steel, copper, silver or gold. The colours are powdered glass and when fired to 800 degrees centigrade they fuse. The process of firing is repeated many times to get the right effect. Stunning effects are achieved by using opaque, opal or transparent colours, overlapping and layering leading to vibrant secondary and tertiary colours.
For beginners it is a great medium to experiment as the result of your effort depends to a large extent on the whims of fire. An introduction to this amazing world of color, fire and creativity is inspiring to all first timers. For me as an enameler it is a love affair which shows no sign of abating.
So I welcome all new comers and artists to get a feel of the medium……
