In the olden times there was a kingdom ruled by a king. The son of the Royal Priest of that kingdom died. The entire kingdom and all its citizens grieved over the death. They all prayed to the Lord of Creation ‘Brahma’ to bring him back to life. Brahmaji was moved by all the grief and prayers. The lord asked the King to draw and paint the likeness of the dead boy on the floor. Once the painting was done Brahmaji put life into the boy and he became alive again. The whole kingdom rejoiced at this event. According to this legend it became a tradition after this event to paint the Rangolis on the floor of all houses.
This is a beautiful story and according to this tale, the rangoli is a magical invitation with the blessing of Lord Brahma.
